Rep. James Rogan (R-CA) lost to Adam Schiff by 52 to 45 percent in a Pasadena area district. Rep. Rogan was first elected in 1996, but was promptly given choice committee assignments.

Rep. Rogan holds committee assignments that put him at the center of most of the debates over legislation that affects high tech. He is on the House Commerce Committee, and its Telecom Subcommittee. He is also on the House Judiciary Committee, and its Courts and Intellectual Property Subcommittee.

He sponsored bills that became law to increase penalties for copyright infringement, and to provide a remedy for victims of cyber-squatters.

Rep. Brian Bilbray (R-CA) lost to Susan Davis by 50 to 46 percent in a San Diego area district. He was first elected in the Republican landslide of 1994.
